Chef Suman is a Bahraini-Canadian culinary virtuoso whose remarkable journey is defined by a rich tapestry of international and Canadian culinary experiences, cultural storytelling, and leadership across food, education, and hospitality. She is on a mission to educate and share Middle Eastern culture and food heritage, demonstrating how cuisine transcends geography and brings people together.
Hailing from the Arabian Gulf island nation of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Chef Suman’s passion for culinary excellence, cultural exchange, and strong work ethos has taken her across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Jordan, Chile, and throughout Canada. These global experiences have shaped her distinctive approach, one that blends authenticity, sustainability, and modern execution.
Chef Suman is the founder and driving force behind House of Khaleej, her primary culinary business and creative platform, where she serves her food and flavours rooted in the traditions of the Arabian Gulf. Through House of Khaleej, she showcases Bahraini and Khaleeji cuisine to global audiences, positioning food as a form of cultural connection and culinary diplomacy. The brand serves as a hub for pop-ups, collaborations, consulting, and cross-cultural programming, bridging chefs, brands, and communities across borders.
Her professional portfolio includes collaborations with major global luxury brands, hotels, resorts, and esteemed restaurant groups such as Fairmont, Hyatt, Hilton, Hawksworth, Iconink, and C-Suite Corporate Food Tech. In her past role as Culinary Partner at Bar Mordecai—named one of North America’s 50 Best Bars—Chef Suman curated menus highlighting local, sustainable Canadian ingredients through a Bahraini lens.
Her work has been featured in From the Wild, a James Beard–nominated docuseries, where she cooked deer kebabs over an open fire using spruce sticks. The feature garnered widespread attention from farmers across Alberta and Ontario, leading to multiple collaboration projects. During the pandemic, she hosted her first pop-up in partnership with Wild Meadows Farm, a regenerative family farm in Southern Ontario, further deepening her commitment to sustainable food systems.
Chef Suman also spent over two years scaling Reef Kitchens’ cloud-kitchen operations in Toronto, supporting major brands such as MrBeast, Man vs Fries, and Wendy’s, before advancing to Director of QAFS for Canada. In this role, she earned multiple internal awards and stood as the only woman represented at the C-suite executive leadership level.
In addition to her industry work, Chef Suman is working as an educator at Fanshawe and Humber College, where she mentors the next generation of culinary and hospitality professionals. Her teaching integrates real-world industry insight, global perspective, and leadership development.
Through her international experience, global collaborations, culinary diplomacy, and involvement in leadership and investment initiatives, Chef Suman is uniquely positioned as a leader in the industry and a strategic partner for brands across multiple platforms—creating meaningful, values-driven cross-promotional opportunities. A trailblazer and advocate for gender equity, she actively champions the advancement of women into leadership roles across the culinary, hospitality, and tourism sectors.
